About the App
The MO Hunting application enables Missouri hunters, anglers, and trappers to purchase, view, and store annual hunting, fishing, and trapping permits and associated details, as well as view permits purchased during the previous year. This application will allow hunters to notch their permit and Telecheck their harvest directly from their deer or turkey permit within the application, using an easy-to-use form. MO Hunting also enables hunters to view all deer and turkey which they have previously checked and the associated details.
Process
The design process began with research into Missouri's existing permit and Telecheck workflows to better understand the challenges hunters faced when reporting harvests and managing permits. I conducted interviews with hunters to gather insights into their needs and behaviors, then translated those findings into user-centered design solutions. Through wireframing, usability studies, surveys, and multiple rounds of click testing, I identified clear navigation patterns and optimized workflows that reduced complexity, improved task completion, and made critical functions such as permit management and harvest reporting intuitive and easy to use.
Success
The MO Hunting application successfully modernized the permit and harvest reporting experience for Missouri's outdoor community by consolidating essential hunting, fishing, and trapping functions into a single mobile solution. It scored 4-5 stars on Google Play and the App Store from 2019-24.
